Kelly Slater: he loves Huntington Beach Surf City USA

Kelly Slater will be honored by Huntington Beach, Surf City, USA, on June 21, 2011. The ten-time world surfing champion will be presented with "Key to the City" at 101 Main Street.

Slater conquered the 1996 U.S. Open of Surfing, held in Huntington Beach, and has always been welcomed in the Californian city, where he has a large fanbase.

The surf champion has already received the "Key to the City" of his hometown, Cocoa Beach, Florida, and San Clemente.

Kelly Slater is now coming to Surf City Nights, a weekly street fair, to be honored by Surf City USA.

The Floridian surf legend will get honors from the hands of Mayor Joe Carchio.

Slater was born on February 11, 1972, and is the youngest (at age 20) and the oldest surfer (at age 38) to win an ASP World Tour title.

Kelly also became the first surfer ever to be awarded two perfect scores, for a total of 20 out of 20 points under the ASP two-wave scoring system. He is of Irish and Syrian ancestry.
