Newcastle has broken the Guinness World Record for the most surfboards laid end to end on a beach.
A total of 608 surfboards were lined up along Nobbys Beach, Australia, during the 30th-anniversary edition of the Surfest.
The previous Guinness World Record stood at 398 surfboards, i.e., 783.5 meters of lined up boards, and it was achieved in 2014, at Port Noarlunga Beach, in Adelaide.
"Surfing courses through Newcastle's veins, it's as recognizable as the ships in our port and our warm hospitality," expressed surf legend Mark Richards, who had three boards of his opening the unbroken 1.13-kilometer line.
"What a fantastic way to celebrate the city, our surfing culture and the 30 years of Surfest with a Guinness World Record attempt."
The longest lineup of boards included shortboards, longboards, shortboards, kneeboards, malibus, stand-up paddleboards, nipper boards, and multiple surf crafts.
