Shun Murakami was born and raised on March 3, 1997, in Yugawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
Ge started surfing when he was in the second grade of elementary school due to his father's influence.
His home break is Yoshihama.
By the time he was ten, he had entered the first contests and soon developed his talent by quickly climbing the Nippon Surfing Association (NSA) rankings.
Murakami has won the Japan Pro Surfing Association (JPSA) Tour from 2015 to 2017 at the country's finest surf breaks.
The young gun from the Land of the Rising Sun represented his country in the 2018 and 2019 ISA World Surfing Games and claimed copper medals for Japan.
Also in 2019, the athlete won the inaugural Japan Open of Surfing. In 2020, Murakami conquered the Corona Open China.
