Daniel Grant has taken out the Red Bull Wake of Steel 2016, held in Linz, Austria.
The extreme wakeboarding competition attracted 18 stars of the sport, who performed breathtaking tricks and maneuvers in a post-industrial setting and surrounded by an enthusiastic crowd.
Grant has already won the event twice, but he nearly missed the super final with James Windsor, Julian Cohen, Ben LeClair, and Szebasztian Szolath. Daniel qualified in fifth place and knew he had to step up his game.
"The win feels surreal. I actually came here without any expectations, and I have surprised myself with the result. I'm virtually lost for words," expressed Daniel Grant.
The Wake of Steel's main obstacle is a unique, half-sunk industrial cargo ship. Grant confirmed his superiority with a moby dick 540 on the kicker and some clean moves on the rails in his second run. The event also had a night session
"In comparison to all the other obstacle events, Wake of Steel is definitely the most extraordinary, and it's the biggest challenge, but things just go well for me here in Austria."
Ben LeClair and James Windsor completed the podium of the Red Bull Wake of Steel 2016.
