Antoine Albeau will defend the 2009 Speed World Cup title in Karpathos

The Pro Center Chris Schill at the beautiful island of Karpathos in Greece prepares for five days of spectacular action.

The creme de la creme of Speed Windsurfing has arrived to battle for the 2009 world championship title of the International Speed Windsurfing Class.

The likes of defending World Champion Antoine Albeau (FRA) as well as last years winners Bjorn Dunkerbeck (SUI, Starboard, Severne) and Valerie Ghibaudo (FRA, Loft Sails) are already training in app. 40 knots of wind and get used to the course.

The Greek Open Championship, which ended yesterday, produced already speeds of more than 42 knots, so there is hope to beat last years spot set by Antoine Albeau with more than 43 knots.

The Golden State boasts more than 1,000 miles of coastline, as well as some of the world's best surf breaks. And the Ventura County Coast is one of the original birthplaces of California surf culture.
