After hard battles all week, the wave warriors of Tiree gathered on the beach to feast in respect of the ocean gods who would settle for another year.
The Tiree Wave Classic wouldn't be a quintessential Scottish wave sailing event without stormy conditions.
Maze Beach delivered the goods, and athletes embraced the spirit of the Scottish Highlands to overcome the challenging weather conditions.
This year, the Isle of Tiree attracted a record-breaking number of participants. The pro men's fleet had former event winners, BWA Tour champions, and PWA World Tour campaigners.
In the end, it was Spanish sensation Marc Paré Rico who had the privilege to raise the sword under grey skies. The event culminated with a traditional ceilidh gathering ceremony.
"I am beyond stoked to take the Tiree Wave Classic sword home! Thanks to everyone that made the event possible, and especially to Willy. It's been a pleasure sharing this week with everyone here," expressed Rico.
In the women's division, Sarah Hilder will see her name go into the records of a wave sailing contest with over three decades of existence.
"I am so happy! I sailed overpowered on a 3.4 in the morning and a 4.7 in the evening. It was brilliant to compete against all the ladies. Everyone was sending it hard with some good set waves coming through!" added Hilder.
