Denmark has joined the International Surfing Association (ISA), as the 73rd member nation.
The Scandinavian state with 7,314 kilometers of coastline has plenty of wave spots for surfing, bodyboarding and wind sports like windsurfing and kiteboarding.
Agger, Bunkers, Gilleleje Havn, Hanstholm, Hornbaek, Hvide Sande, Klitmøller, Loekken and Vorupør are some of the most important wave peaks in Denmark.
"The surfing roots in Denmark go far back and it is amazing to now finally be able to give present and future Danish surfers, stand up paddlers and paddleboarders the opportunity to compete and represent Denmark, at ISA events", explains Casper Steinfath, the managing secretary of the North Atlantic Surfing Association (NASA).
Denmark is surrounded by water on all sides and no location in the country is further than 32 miles (52 kilometers) from the coast. That means less than an hour drive from any point in the country to waves.
