Jadson Andre has taken out the 2019 Oi Hang Loose Pro Contest, in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil.

The Brazilian Championship Tour (CT) surfer won the first Qualifying Series (QS) 6,000 event of the season after beating his fellow countryman, Yago Dora, in the final.

The decisive heat got underway in challenging, three-foot surf at Cacimba do Padre, and the winner was only decided in the dying minutes.

Andre, who en route to the final took down Reef Heazlewood, Gabriel Medina and Cam Richards, only found the wave he needed on his last attempt.

"Years ago, when he won his contest, Neco Padaratz told me he had dreamed about a right-hand wave the entire event, and in his final, he was able to win on a right," Jadson Andre revealed.

"Yago practically blocked me off from the lefts, but I had a feeling about the rights since the start of the event. So, after I broke my board and paddled in for a new one, I got this righthander, and I was able to pull off those two big turns for the score I needed."
