The construction of the first artificial wave park in Europe has been finished in the Basque Country, Spain.
Wavegarden, the man-made wave company founded by Josema Odriozola and Karin Frisch, has announced that their first surf pool site is finally up.
The team at Wavegarden will now enter the phase of fine-tuning the wave and the overall surf pool conditions.
"We are working with ten partners with financial commitments in Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Brazil, and Hawaii. Shortly, we will know where the first public Wavegarden will be built", the company says.
The Wavegarden concept, which has already been tested by pro surfers like Mick Fanning, Owen Wright, Bobby Martinez, and Aritz Aranburu, was initially designed in 2005.
The patented Wavegarden technology can be applied to a variety of existing bodies of water, from lakes and lagoons to reservoirs and large ponds.
