Mike Dowdy conquered the first event of the 2016 Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour season, held in Fort Worth, Texas.

The largest and longest-running professional wakeboard and wakesurf circuit kicked off with an exciting surprise: Harley Clifford didn't win it. And Cory Teunissen fell in the semifinals.

In the wakeboarding division, and despite the tricky wind conditions, Dowdy was the in-form athlete of the event. In the final run, he scored 94.33 points and took first place ahead of Rusty Malinoski and Tony Iacconi.

"I think my biggest competitor will be myself this season. I have the tricks to do this every time. Just have to make sure I stay on point and do what I have to do. Stoked to grab my first win of the season," said Mike Dowdy.

The wakesurf contest had brothers Noah and Keenan Flegel battling it out for the highest spot on the podium. In the end, it was the younger sibling who celebrated victory.

The 2016 Supra Boats Pro Wakeboard Tour will travel to Mooresville (June 18th); Monroe (July 9th), Edmonton (July 23rd), and Indianapolis (August 6th).
