Pierre-Louis Costes: he lives and breathes the ocean | Photo: Wonderland Prod

Pierre-Louis Costes was born in the landlocked city of Vichy in France.

However, his personal and professional career sent him to the westernmost country in Europe. Today, the two-time world bodyboarding champion lives and breathes Portugal.

Interestingly, Costes started bodyboarding in Morocco when he was ten years old. Since then, he hasn't stopped riding and collecting multiple national and European titles.

"I learned a lot by watching all the locals on the beach in Morocco. They were happy to see a kid in the water finally," reveals the 28-year-old bodyboarder.

"I think I was born to be connected with the ocean. Waves are a privilege that Nature has shared with us. A little ripple is ours for a few seconds."

Costes is raising a family in the Portuguese surf town of Ericeira, home to one of the best and longest right-hand reef break waves in Europe: Ribeira d'Ilhas.

When he is not free surfing in Ericeira or Costa de Caparica, the talented French athlete practices yoga and meditation. But Pierre-Louis is still warming up - there are more world titles to be won.
