Gabriel Medina has taken out the 2017 Quiksilver Pro France, at La Graviere, in Hossegor.

The Brazilian surfer defeated Hawaiian prodigy Sebastian Zietz in three-to-five foot beach break waves. Medina locked in his third Quiksilver Pro France win.

"It feels so good to win again. I have been working so hard before this event. This is a really special place for me. I am stoked. I am not thinking about a world title. I just want to do good at every event. I promised myself that I had to win one event this year and I finally got it!" sais Gabriel Medina.

The 2014 world surfing champion conquered the eighth Championship Tour event of his career and jumped to third place in the rankings.

"I love this kind of beach break. I have waves like this at home, so I feel really comfortable here. France has always been nice to me. Now it is Portugal. Everyone starts from zero, so we will do this all over again, and hopefully, I can do good there."

On the women's side, Hawaiian powerhouse Carissa Moore imposed herself in the Roxy Pro final against Lakey Peterson with a confident performance and powerful carves and turns.

"It has been a crazy year and just to come out with a win is amazing. This one means so much because it has been a tricky year. I’ve been going through some growth personally, and it was just nice to see it all fall into place," concluded Moore.
