Rio Formula World Festival: Brazil, the capital of fun

The 2010 Rio Formula World Festival will be held from Monday 11th October to Sunday 17th October 2010.

The event incorporates the World Championships for Formula Windsurfing Youth, Formula Windsurfing Master and Formula Experience. The Festival also includes an international event for the other divisions in both Formula Windsurfing and Formula Experience classes.

The Championships will be organised by the Upwind Windsurf Club for and on behalf of, and under specified conditions laid down by, the International Formula Windsurfing Class (IFWC) and the Formula Experience Class (FEC), in co-operation with the International Windsurfing Association (IWA), Confederação Brasileira de Vela e Motor (CBVM), Federação Estadual de Vela e Motor (FEVERJ) and Associacao Brasileira de Windsurf (ABWS).

The event will be based in Praia Seca, located in Araruama city, Rio de Janeiro – Southeast Brazil.

Praia Seca is 125km from Rio de Janeiro city, 13 km from Cabo Frio International Airport, in Cabo Frio; and 130 km from the Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro.

Conditions to be expected : winds 12-16 kts SW, 10-25 kts NE; water temperature 24ºc; air temperature 30ºc-32ºc.

Rob Bain, Layne Beachley, and Dave Macaulay have taken out the Azores Airlines World Masters Championship in the Grand Masters, Women's Masters and Men's Masters divisions held in good three-foot surf at Praia de Santa Barbara.
