Mevissen

Mevissen (NeilPryde / RRD), who finished 12th overall in ’07, joins talented freestyle teammates Nicholas Akgazciyan (RRD / Gun), Simon Hurrey (RRD / Simmer) and new signing Cheo Diaz (RRD / North), as the Italian designer label makes a charge on the pro scene for 2008.

Kevin, 25, who’s training hard in Cape Town right, now stated his targets this season are: "To reach the top 3 in freestyle and to just have people say 'hey that guy rides with style'. My training in South Africa's been going really well, especially as we’ve had a lot of wind and waves this year."

"I can’t wait until next week when my coach will comes with my new TwinTips and we start concentrating on freestyle!" This year, Kev not only has a coach who helps him in the gym and with cardio work and video analysis, but a manager too.

"My manager's an amazing girl called Nikki, who’ll make sure positive things happen at the right time. She’s got really strong Media contacts and we’ll be on MTV Holland, and in a lot of mainstream and windsurfing magazines, and schools and stuff to really take windsurfing to a younger audience. We’re also organizing some camps for the 2008 season, so it will be really good to get new people into the sport!"

"And the winning trick for the coming season? When the right ramps come my way ramps I’ll go for the pushloop forward and a lot of double tricks when it’s flat!"
