Mikey Clancy: young and wild

Mikey Clancy has stormed the Elly Beach stage of the 2011 Irish Wave Championships. The windsurfer took the first place in the waves of Bellmullet Co. Mayo, on Ireland's West Coast.

The experienced 21-year-old wind rider took the most out of the perfect windsurfing conditions on offer. With mast-high waves, 23-knot winds and bright sunshine, Clancy was unstoppable.

Three full rounds of competition were held over two days with Mikey winning two rounds combined with a third place enough to take the victory over Rob Jones and Oisin van Geldern.

They both shared the runner up spot. The Dubliner's radical wave riding and big jumps impressed the judges. Mikey used his 2012 Starboard Quad fin Evo 75 for the competition.

The final round will take place at Brandon Bay in a few weeks time.

Whether you think of a kite as a wing or a sail, you want it to be lightweight, resistant, waterproof, but also stiff and flexible at the same time, so that they could respond to all flight requests.
