Tom Ashley: everybody knows him in New Zealand

Tom Ashley and Kate Ellingham won the RS:X competition at the Sail Auckland 2011. In the Men's fleet, Dorian van Rijsselberge secured the silver medal by winning the final double-points race. In third place, Jon-Paul Tobin got the bronze medal, even with Antonio Cozzolino finishing on equal points.

In the Women's fleet, Justina Sellers took the silver medal, while Jazmine Lynch was third. "The regatta has been a huge success," commented Jez Fanstone, Olympic Programme Manager for Yachting New Zealand.

"Takapuna Boating Club has hosted a great event, with plenty of close racing in all fleets. It’s great to have all the Olympic classes sailing from the same venue and there have been so many people down to watch the racing and join in on the action at the Club".

Sail Auckland’s main objective is to foster and promote Olympic Class sailing. The regatta was granted ISAF Grade 1 status five years ago.
