David Perez has just signed to Mike Stewart's Science Bodyboards. The athlete was born in Sopelana in 1978.

Perez is the first Spanish to ever conquer a Bodyboarding World Title. He did it in 2004. David Perez started competing in 1992 - he was 14 years old - in Opena Banana Bakio, in Spain.

KBA 

The Kaua‘i Bodyboarding Association has announced the full schedule for 2009 Amateur Tour.

All competitors will have the chance to test the professional in a point rated system.

KBA will host the third stop of the United States Bodyboarding Association (USBA) / IBA World Tour on June 30th.

Austinmer Beach 

A report will be prepared for the Coroner following the death of a man at a popular beach in the State’s south last night.

About 7pm officers attached to Wollongong Local Area Command were called to Austinmer Beach after a witness reported seeing a man appear to lose consciousness and slip from his boogie board into the water.

Local lifesavers pulled the 56-year-old Kirrawee man from the water and notified emergency services.

Ambulance staff attempted to resuscitate the man, but were unsuccessful.

The man’s body was taken to Wollongong Hospital for formal identification and inquiries into the incident continue.
