- 24 November 2010 | Kiteboarding
South Africa is one of the main winter destinations where you can almost guarantee to head out for warmer climes and regular winds. Its windy season runs from November until April and it is a country where you can depend on for scenery, food and great prices too. It’s a place where you can kite under the African sun day in, day out on no bigger than 9m.
On this incredible adventure we will be based in Langebaan on a lagoon 120km’s north of Capetown where the water is warmer, shallower and flatter then in Capetown itself. We will stay in a lovely double story 5 bedroom house with breathtaking views over the lagoon. It is fully equipped and has a stunning indoor and outdoor bbq area to soak up the evening sun after our full days’ kiting on the water.
The wind is generally tamer here than in Capetown so you can feel safe and secure while learning the tricks that Jo Wilson will be guiding you through.
There are a maximum number of 6 spaces available but partners are welcome too and can learn with the local kite school if they dare. You will be split into three groups of two to keep the coaching dedicated to your own goals and maximise time for one to one coaching.
Jo will work with each group for 50 mins twice a day providing a good balance between intense coaching and relaxed free riding where you can practise the techniques suggested so you will really be able to blitz those moves and learn new tricks in no time.
The adventure will be based on maximising time on the water but should there be a day of no wind forecasted then there will be time to squeeze a trip down the coast to Table Mountain, Camps Bay or even other places that Capetown has to offer.
This trip will be an unforgettable experience where you will go home with the satisfactory aches and pains of too much time on the water plus the photos and video footage to prove it. With your new tricks up your sleeve Jo aims to send you back feeling happier, healthier, fitter and ready to rock on the water on your return.
