Frank Solomon: his mock-doc bio is full of sauce | Photo: Red Bull

Who is Frank Solomon? Does he live a double life? Come on, "Let's Be Frank."

It's absurd, retro, surreal, and avant-garde; a colorful surf comedy which aims to establish the real identity of big wave surfer Frank James Solomon.

"Let's Be Frank" is a big-budget production. These days, you don't make (surf) movies like this one. Except if you're a pro surfer, and a passionate filmmaker like John John Florence... who also stars in the film.

Frank is a good guy. He's a humble guy. He's a waterman, a talented charger, and a fearless surf explorer who loves English girls, classic cars, and expensive country houses.

The mock-doc bio of FJ Solomon will instantly capture your attention. It reminds us of some the hyper-realistic music videos released by the British band Pulp, in the mid-1990s.

Peter Hamblin, the director behind "Let's Be Frank," managed to get Ben Harper in the original soundtrack credits, but the film is full of well-known stars of the surfing world, including Pat O'Connell, Daniel Redman, Jamie O'Brien, Josh Redman, Donavon Frankenreiter.

Inspired by Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson, the movie featuring Frank Solomon will impress even those who never stood up on a surfboard.

The full movie is available on Red Bull TV.
