Joshua Holley: Hawaiian shark fighter

Joshua Holley, a 28-year-old surfer, was attacked by a tiger shark, at Leftovers, on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The surfer was surprised by the 10-feet predator in the nose of his surfboard.

"I felt this unreal push on the left side of my body. It was like this popping sensation on my foot and I looked down to my left and I saw this huge dorsal fin," Holley told Hawaii News Now. "Survival mode kicked in and I punched it really hard once and then twice. I didn’t want to panic or go into shock or anything like that."

Joshua stayed calm during the shark attack and decided to strike a few punches in the shark, before the predator went away. "I’m not gonna die today", he yelled.

After the shark fight, Holley paddled back to the beach and got support from beachgoers. In the hospital, he 42 stitches and the confirmation that he will need surgery to repair two torn tendons

Joshua Holley plans to hit the surf when he is fully recovered. "I’m not really angry at the shark. He was just doing what he does, I’ll definitely be back."
