Mason Ho: find a dream barrel at Sunset Beach | Photo: Heff/WSL

Mason Ho has claimed the HIC Pro 2016, at Sunset Beach, in Hawaii.

The surfer from the North Shore of Oahu won his second HIC Pro title in firing 12-foot waves. Ho defeated Jack Robinson, Makuakai Rothman, and Finn McGill in the final.

But the talented Hawaiian was only able to lock in two winning scores in the closing minutes - a 9.00 for a beautiful barrel, and a 5.37 for a few solid carves in his last ride.

"That nine was really fun because I've been trying to get a wave like that for the last couple weeks. I got it in the final and I was so stoked. It came at the perfect time," explained Mason Ho.

"Everyone's the same out at Sunset; all the champions on the list they all have all this knowledge, but when you go out to Sunset, it's almost like a lot of it is put aside. Out there I instantly feel vulnerable. As soon as I'm out there, I feel like I could lose."

The 28-year-old surfer is not the first member of the family to win the HIC Pro. His father Michael Ho won the HIC Pro four times (1988, 1990, 1991, and 1996).
