Benjamin Fabres steals the show at inaugural Matanzas Wave Classic

Benjamin Fabres has taken out the inaugural Matanzas Wave Classic, held in the waves of Chile.

The penultimate event on the 2017 International Windsurfing Tour delivered logo-high wave sets on the second day of competition, allowing organizers to run the finals.

The superb conditions ignited the pro and amateur fleets. Athletes were invited to put their gear to the test in the waves of Matanzas beach, a place once visited by Sir Francis Drake.

China rules the 2017 RS:X World Championships

Bing Ye has been crowned the 2017 RS:X world windsurfing champion, at Enoshima, Japan.

Forget the Polish, the Israeli, the Dutch and the Spanish. The Olympic windsurfing class is now in the hands of China, the new force to be reckoned in the RS:X world.

The Chinese sailors claimed five out of the six medals on offers at the 2017 RS:X World Championships. And they weren't even competing in home waters.

Robby Naish inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame

Robby Naish, 54, has been inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame (NSHOF), at the New York Yacht Club, in Newport.

The windsurfing legend and seven other inductees were honored for the impact they have had in sailing. The National Sailing Hall of Fame has now enshrined 65 sailors.

Robert Staunton Naish was born on April 23, 1963, in La Jolla, San Diego, California. He started windsurfing at the age of 11 when his family moved to Oahu's Kailua, Hawaii.
