River surfing is becoming a trend, and Germany is at the forefront of the new movement.

The Volcom Rapid Jam Munich was one of the first specialty events run by the newly established Rapid Surf League, a circuit exclusively dedicated to static wave riding.

The contest was held at the iconic Eisbach river wave, in the heart of Munich, and showcased some of the best performers of the local river surfing scene.

The cash-for-tricks session got underway at 9 pm and gathered a few stars of the Volcom surf team, including Gony Zubizarreta, William Aliotti, Leon Glatzer and Charly Quivront.

The river surfing crew traded innovative maneuvers for cold beers and split 1,000 euros in a cool, laid-back atmosphere. You could feel the influence of skateboarding and snowboarding in the water.

The organizers even introduced sliders so that surfers could slide into the river in grand fashion, skate-style. Fire breathers also lit up the spot during the critical trick attempts.

The night wouldn't be complete without an after-party at a local bar. What an intense day of everything.
