Today we had perfect conditions on Estaleirinhos Beach,, with no wind and 6-8 ft waves.

The Brazilians make up the majority on semifinals, with five of eight competitors left in the event being locals.

In girls event The top-5 on 2008 IBA World Tour did a great job and will fight for title tomorrow. Natasha Sagardia (PRC) will compete against Eunate Aguirre (SPN), and Neymara Cavalho will meet Isabela Sousa in an all Brazilian semifinal match-up.

Mike Stewart (HAWAII)  had a good performance and is the only foreign athlete that will compete in semifinals. The Hawaiian will compete against Rene Xavier.

"I hope that the waves are bigger tomorrow, because when there is alot of punch in the swell it suits me better. I'm just taking one heat at a time", said Mike.

The other semifinal is between Lucas Nogueira (BRZ) and the current world champion Uri Valadão (BRZ). Lucas had the best event performance today with 17.75 points in his quarter final.
