Fronton: no go in 2013

The Fronton Challenge has cancelled. The IBA World Tour 2013 has come to an end.

It's one of the worst nightmares in the history of bodyboarding. The last stop on the IBA World Tour 2013 has been cancelled.

"It is with great disappointment that the IBA has decided to cancel Fronton", says Richard Nimmo, general manager at IBA World Tour.

"The team at the IBA has worked tirelessly to pull the event together, yet a last minute withdrawal of a key sponsor has meant that we can no longer contemplate running it. Events must be profitable or at worse break even".

The short statement does not explain who will be crowned the 2013 IBA World Tour champion. Fronton Challenge was supposed to untie the leadership shared by Ben Player and Amaury Lavernhe.

Nimmo and the IBA team say that "though this is disappointing, we will now focus on 2014 to make Pipe the success it deserves to be".

Alex Leon has also quit the IBA World Tour.
