Puerto Rico: fine barrels

The Encanto Pro 2014 has been cancelled. The APB World Tour is down to a total of eight stages.

Natasha Sagardia, the director of the Puerto Rico bodyboarding contest, has announced that the seventh stop on the Association of Professional Bodyboarders (APB) World Tour will not be run.

"Due to time constraints the organisers, CLEO LLC regrets to inform that the Encanto Pro Puerto Rico will not be contested in 2014," explains Sagardia.

"The organisation has already begun strategic negotiations in order to secure the event in its entirety (all three categories) for the following two editions, 2015 and 2016, and for the remainder of the 10-year contract, to produce the event in Puerto Rico that was signed between the IBA and CLEO LLC in 2010."

No further details emerged, but the truth is that this is a major setback for the newly-formed APB World Tour. With only one stage completed - the Pipe Pro - the professional season still lacks a consistent schedule.

Meanwhile, the Zicatela Pro is no longer part of the 2014 circuit, and the Fronton Showdown is still not yet confirmed.
