The best ever edition of the Rip Curl Cup Invitational saw Garut Widiarta stealing the show in firing wave conditions, at Padang Padang, Indonesia.

He is considered Bali's favourite son. Garut Widiarta is living the dream. The final of the 11th Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang got underway in solid six-to-eight foot bombs driving against powerful trade winds.

In the last heat, cousins Raditya Rondi and Widiarta had giant sets closing out the channel. But their knowledge and experience would prove that Indonesian surfing is coming out of the underground world.

In the end, Garut charged every gun nest and rifled his way through impossible barrel after barrel to ride to a convincing win while breathless fans followed the live broadcast online. Actually, Widiarta almost surfed a perfect heat, with a total heat score of 19.15 points.

"Thank you so much everyone who support the Padang Cup. This is the most greatest feeling I ever had in my whole life about surfing. Feels so great to be on the final with my cousin Made Raditya Rondi. So stoked! Cheers!", said Widiarta.

The 11th Rip Curl Cup Invitational at Padang Padang saw four Indonesians reaching the semifinals. Lee Wilson and Mustofa Jekson kept third places.
