Agios Nikolaos On SUP, the biggest celebration of stand-up paddleboarding in Greece, wrapped up in grand fashion.

The event, organized for the fourth consecutive year on the enchanting beaches of Agios Nikolaos, attracted over 175 Greek and foreign friends of the sport who enjoyed the excellent hospitality of Crete.

Agios On SUP was a EuroTour stop for the second consecutive year, adding a touch of glamour and raising the bar as, for one more year, top athletes from all over the world accepted the challenge.

At the same time, athletes from all over Greece and other countries had the opportunity to test their skills next to the biggest stars of the sport.

One of them was actor Giorgos Chraniotis, a local celebrity who participated in both days and won the audience by signing autographs and taking several selfies with young - and not only - fans.

Also, BIC Sport provided stand-up paddleboarding equipment and gave a chance to first-time friends of the sport to take part in events in the Lake, with the audience celebrating and applauding their efforts.

One of them was little Odysseus, only five years old, who undoubtedly stole the show.

Two Days of SUP Action

On the first day at Voulisma Beach, the participants took part in technical routes with buoys placed between waves, in all categories and distances of three and five kilometers.

In the men's five-kilometer event, and with 14' boards, Hellenic Surf & Sup Association (HSSA) selected which participants will represent Greece in the 2018 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship.

Nikos Syrigos finished first, with Anastasios Tsouris and Alexandros Prapas taking second and third respectively. They all received a ticket from HSSA to Brazil.

The second day of the event started where EuroTour was launched, with a view of the infamous Spinalonga island, and 68 men and 19 women athletes from 12 countries, including Greece, Europe, Brazil, and Australia,

The route had a distance of 15 kilometers, passed by the Elounda Canal, Havania Beach, Amoudi Club on the homonym beach, and ended up in the Lake of Agios Nikolaos, where the crowd waited anxiously for their arrival.

The grand winner of the event was Michael Booth, while Titouan Puyo and Vinnicius Martins climbed the podium in second and third place respectively.

Amandine Chazot finished first for the women, with Olivia Piana and Noelani Sach following her in second and third.

It is noteworthy that the participants' effort throughout the event was broadcasted all over the world with a live stream video connection.

Afterward, the 200-meter events for both men and women took place in the port of Agios Nikolaos, and then the fun was transported to the Lake, with 500-meter technical routes for children with BIC SUP boards available for use, and one-kilometer events for adults.

Paddling a longboard is relatively easy, but you should know how to do it right. The trick is in the weight distribution, and paddling angle.
