Marti Paradisis: don't go left

The biggest wave, biggest slab and biggest paddle-in rides will be voted at the Surfing Life's Oakley Big Wave Awards 2012/13, Australia's most prestigious huge-surf challenge.

The finalists of the Australian Big Wave Awards have delivered outstanding performances in impressive stages. From Jeff Rowley and Grant Twiggy Baker to Marti Paradisis and Cale Grigson, the candidates' waves deserve a wide applause.

"We felt the surfers themselves were the best judges of each other's performances. They know these wild surf zones better than anyone else and they have a clear view of the challenge involved. We were stoked with the way they responded! They've come up with an epic group of finalists", explains Nick Carroll, event coordinator.

A number of impressive sessions in a year of consistent swell has seen a colossal total of 50 entries, which have now been whittled down to 14 entries between 13 surfers across the 3 categories.

Cale Grigson, Chris Ross, Chris Shanahan, Grant Twiggy Baker and Paul Paterson are running in the "Biggest Slab" division. James Hick, Jeff Goulden, Jeff Rowley, Leroy Rust and Paul Morgan stan in the "Biggest Paddle-In" category.

In the "Biggest Wave" competition, Danny Griffiths, Jeff Goulden, Marti Paradisis, Paul Paterson or Tyler Hollmer Cross will claim victory.

Surfing Life's Oakley Big Wave Awards will be presented on February 13th, 2013, at Simmer on the Bay, Dawes Point, Sydney.
