Timmy Reyes: power and experience

Timmy Reyes has won the Mr Price Pro Ballito 2014, in six-to-eight foot (1.5- 2 meter) surf, in South Africa.

The Californian surfer, 32, proved it is never too late to make a glorious comeback, after several injuries almost put an end to his surfing career.

Tim Reyes defeated Matt Wilkinson in the final heat held at Willard Beach, to claim his first major victory in ten years. As a result, Reyes collects 6500 qualification points and moves to fifth position on the ASP World Qualifying Series ratings.

"This is the biggest win I've ever had in my life. I'm just going to take it one contest at a time, and one heat at a time and see what happens,"revealed an emotional Timmy Reyes. 0"

"It's been a special day for me. Ballito came alive and I've had amazing support from the locals and my friend Sid who gave me a home away from home this week."

Despite finishing runner-up, the Australian surfer showed what backhand surfing is all about. Wilkinson put on a stellar performance throughout the entire event.

Tiago Pires and Adam Melling finish the Mr Price Pro Ballito 2014 in third place.
