Zane Kekoa Schweitzer has taken out The Ultimate Waterman 2017, in New Zealand.

The athlete from Maui, Hawaii, had the best overall performance of the event that puts eight all-around watermen competing in eight divisions: Prone Paddleboard, Shortboard Surfing, SUP Surfing, Waka Ama OC1 (SUP Endurance), Underwater Strength Run and Swim, Longboard and Tube Riding.

Tahiti's Manoa Drollet and Australia's Jackson Maynard were the only competitors to win two divisions but, in the end, it was Schweitzer who raised the overall title.

"This is by far the most epic competition ever! I love it. I'm so proud to be part of The Ultimate Waterman team and ohana [family]!" said Zane Schweitzer, who was able to defend his 2016 title in grand fashion.

"As athletes, we want to always strive for excellence. It's so important to learn from our past mistakes and past successes, and continue to be mindful, while we push ourselves to the max."
