China to hold 2018 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship

The 2018 World StandUp Paddle and Paddleboard Championship (WSUPPC) will take place in Wanning, China.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) announced a change in the venue, as Brazil's Buzios failed to meet the contractual obligations signed in November 2017.

Wanning's best-known point break - Riyue Bay - has already hosted several ISA events. The Chinese surf spot proved to be a reliable option in the region, delivering consistent waves since it first held a contest in 2012.

WSL wants a Surf Ranch in Japan in time for Tokyo 2020

The World Surf League (WSL) is planning the construction of a wave pool in Kisarazu, Japan.

According to Mainichi Shimbun, one of the largest newspapers in Japan, the Surf Ranch is expected to open to the general public in December 2019, just a few months before the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The plans have already been presented to the residents of Kisarazu in a private meeting, and construction works are expected to begin in September 2018.
