Sebastian Kornum is living the dream. With only 18 years, the Danish surfer was considered the "Sportsman of the Year" in his country. The young sailor got the trophy from the hands of the Sparbank director, Bent Jensen, in front of 1600 shareholders and the bank's management board.
"You have won almost all junior titles within your sport for the last six years. Amongst them five Nordic titles and seven Danish titles. And not to forget the Junior World Champion title when you were only 15 years old. Today you are one of the few in the world handling all windsurfing and surfing disciplines at high level".
"A so called waterman. But more important than that – you manage to also take care of your studies and keep both feet solidly planted on the ground. You are a great ambassador for your sport and a valuable roll model for other young people", said Bent Jensen.
Kornum watched his career peak moments in a giant screen riding his favourite spot, in Klitmøller.
"I am very, very proud of this award! I see it as an award not only for the way I do my favourite sport, but also as a true acknowledgement of the sport itself. Windsurfing and surfing certainly are fantastic sports, and I am glad if I can inspire other young people, too. I look forward to help them the best I can", said the Danish windsurfer.
