Piotr Myszka: clearly stoked

Piotr Myszka and Blanca Manchon have taken the gold medals at the 43th Semaine Olympique Française, held in Hyeres, France. The experienced Polish windsurfer defended his lead by staying in touch with the leaders.

The biggest threat was Shahar Zubari, from Israel, who stood only one point behind Piotr. Meanwhile, Przemyslaw Miarczynski had to win it and hope that Tom Ashley and Julien Bontemps somehow lost the consistency they had shown all week by finishing well down the order.

A confident Myszka secured the lead and sailed a perfect race to take 4th and the gold medal. Julien was silver and Shajar kept bronze.

In the RS:X Women's windsurfing fleet the question was a bit different. Who was going to claim the second and third places? Peina Chen and Alessandra Sensini had swapped the place during normal fleet racing but coming through the pack to make a late challenge was Bryony Shaw. She had to win the medal to be in with a chance.

She did just that. Peina (9th) and Alessandra (10th) both had bad results and with the points being doubled Bryony snatched the bronze medal with a comfortable points margin.

Blanca Manchon and Marina Alabau will battle each other for national selection, because both are potential Olympic medallists, while Charline Picon and Bryony Shaw won't give away a medal easily. Alessandra Sensini prepares for her fith Olympic Games and should always be respected.
